12 Weeks Postpartum

Week: 12

How big is babe:

Not sure what his weight is, but he is officially in 3-6 mo clothing!! whoa.

Our week at a glance:

Our last full week together - WAAHH! Finn starts his transition week into school this next week and I go back to work the following week. It has gone so fast!

We had a very LAZY Wednesday - in jammies all day for both of us. It was nice to not do anything but be together and spend time with just each other doing nothing!

Finn also went on his first long road trip to Wisconsin. We went to my cousin Theresa's wedding shower and had so much fun. We stayed in a hotel with Grandma, Auntie Stephanie and Emily - it was also Finn's first stay over in a hotel. SO FUN!

Something new this week/Milestones:
I took the head support out of his carseat. His head has gotten so big and he has gotten so strong with holding his neck up, that it just made sense. He is doing so well - really filling that car seat up though!

Typically up until this point, Finn has been pretty focused while nursing. He will close his eyes and suck away. Going into his own world. This week though, he has taken to opening his eyes while on the boob. He will even take a breath, look up at me and smile. I LOVE IT! He just stares at me. It is such an incredible bonding moment that I will never forget. I love breastfeeding him - what a long way we've come.

This week there has been LOTS of chatter. He is babbling so much! I swear he says, "Mooohhmmm." It is so sweet to see him talk so much. I can't wait to hear his first words.

So I haven't bene super vigilant on tummy time this week - ok or at all. BUT we did it a few times a day this week and he is finally starting to dig it. I mean he even lifted chest a bit this week!He used to only stay down there for a few seconds, but now he is up to at least a minute or so. I think it has helped a bit with his gas and watching his smile when he is down there makes my heart burst. I love it.

Ok not sure if this is something to record, but we had our first official blowout! Yep. He woke up one morning and while he is typically super bothered by even a urinated diaper, he was just quietly cooing in bed and as I picked him up (I thought he was sweating) it was everywhere. I have to admit I was a little proud. He's getting so big! hahaha

Most challenging moment:
We have a new bedtime. It was a bit of a challenge at first, but by the second night he slept from about 7:45 until 2a then again until about 5. Pretty good I think. We'll see how this all goes once we're needing to be on a schedule.

Something I loved this week:
Spending time with him. These last few days have been just the best. We have has some serious mama bear / baby bear bonding time bringing us just closer and closer. Every second of every minute of every day is so amazing with him  - I cannot imagine life without those moments.

Imagining life before him has become so hard and I never want to remember. My life began the second he was born!!

Mama time:
This new bedtime for Finn is leaving me with a solid 2 hours or so to do things like this blog, dishes, eat a hot dinner, get ready for tomorrow, catch up on some shows (Big Little Lies - what?!). That has been nice. I've been reading a bit before bed as well which helps me to sleep, but also makes me very sleepy in the morning, so we'll have to see about that one once work starts.

What am I eating:

I'm going to lessen my dairy again. Finn had a bit of a break out on his face (a reddish rash) and I had a lot of yogurt in the first few days of the week. I didn't cut it completely (cheese...c'mon), but even just cutting back helped a bunch. He cleared up by the next day.

A ton of water again, I've been so good - yay!!

My body/movement:
We went for a long walk at the beginning of this week. It was the Spring Equinox and it was BEAUTIFUL! I think we were out for at least an hour. I'm getting so excited to get outside with Finn - we're going to have such a fun summer!

Checking in:
This will be the last "Weekly" post. Finn will be 3 months in a few days and our lives are about to be a lot busier, so I'm not sure how detailed and frequent these blogs will be. I will still keep writing so come back and check as there will be updates! I am having so much fun keeping up with this and letting you all know the goings on with me and my fish baby (I'm trying that out as "Finn" is SO in love with baths and the water that he has turned into such a little fish!!)
